Columbia Mailman School of Public Health: NIH Grant Writing Boot Camp
Registration is open.
The 2-day NIH Grant Writing Boot Camp: Building a Strong Foundation for Funding Success will provide comprehensive training that supplies researchers with the tools to write persuasive, effective grant proposals. Through a combination of seminars, discussions, examples, and hands-on activities, with a particular focus on navigating between-the-lines on how to tailor your proposals to grant reviewers, this training will orient you to all aspects of the academic funding process (i.e., grant writing and grant strategizing).
This training will include three sessions:
A live online seminar 3-4 weeks before the 2-day boot camp to introduce the fundamentals of drafting the Specific Aims page—that oh-so-important project overview that can ‘make or break’ the reviewers’ perception of the application.
The livestream, 2-day portion of the boot camp will cover critical topics that help you package your proposal for maximum impact.
One round of written feedback for a Specific Aims page will be made available to all attendees for 3 months after the boot camp, at no additional cost, further solidifying the boot camp concepts into practical skills.
Investigators from any institution and from all career stages are welcome to attend, and we particularly encourage trainees and early-stage investigators to participate.
June 15-16, 2026 || 10am - ~5pm EDT || Livestream, online training

GHA-SciEx fellowships
APPLICATION DEADLINE: July 1, 2026
Visits conducted under the CoRE-GHA Scientific Exchange Programme can last up to 90 days and are designed to strengthen capacity building and training for early-career researchers based in Africa and Europe.
This opportunity is open to any member affiliated with an institution participating in the CoRE-GHA consortium and African STARS alumni, not limited to laboratories directly involved in CoRE-GHA activities. Host laboratories must be part of CoRE-GHA-affiliated institutions. Applicants should be actively engaged in research related to infectious diseases, rare diseases, or rare and familial cancers. Priority is given to transcontinental exchanges between Africa and Europe.
This program offers a unique opportunity, with a higher success rate than typical European fellowship programmes - making it a less competitive but highly valuable option for early-career researchers.

McGill School of Population ad Global Health: Call for Nominations: The 2026 Paul Farmer Lectureship and Award for Global Health Equity
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: June 12, 2026
Through the Paul Farmer Lectureship and Award for Global Health Equity, we want to identify, honour, and promote champions who have dedicated their lives to achieving health equity in the most challenging circumstances. We are especially interested in nominations of individuals whose work reflects the values that defined Paul Farmer’s life and practice, including solidarity with marginalized communities, long-term commitment, and leadership grounded in service and accompaniment. Health equity strives for the highest possible standard of health for all people and gives attention to those at greatest risk of poor health, based on social or economic conditions. Thus, the award could be given to an individual who has worked to improve access to healthcare or access to health products (e.g. vaccines or medicines) in equity-denied communities. It could also be given to someone who has mobilized others, and/or helped build a local or national movement for health equity. Given the outstanding nominations we anticipate receiving, we look forward to profiling the top-ranked finalists on our website, in addition to honouring the winner.
The awardee will deliver a special lecture at McGill University and receive a cash honorarium. In 2026, the honorarium will be CAD $5,000. Travel and accommodation to attend the event at McGill University will also be covered.
A nominee for this award...
Is a living person, an exceptional practitioner, leading impactful work to address health inequities in underserved communities in any region of the world;
Has a substantial, long-term track record of demonstrably improving health equity at the community level;
Is from any region of the world but nominations from the Global South are especially welcome;
May conduct research or lead an institution as part of their practice, but the award is not based on research track record or an individual’s rank within an institution; it is based on practice or service that leads to improvement of health equity.

NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education: Workplace Dynamics (WPD) Series
The material in this series will increase your awareness of work, communication, and conflict styles, using examples highly relevant to research environments. The series is helpful for trainees and fellows at all levels. The series is also helpful for fellows who supervise others and want to develop strong mentoring skills for the future.
There are three sessions in the series; each is offered once in the fall and spring. While it is best to attend the entire series, you may attend individual sessions. Trainees and fellows who complete all three units of the Workplace Dynamics Series will receive a certificate of completion. All three units of this series are required for participation in the OITE Management Short Course offered each spring.
