This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) invites eligible academic or research institutions to apply for funding support to purchase latest scientific equipment that will enhance and modernize research-supporting operations of existing shared biomedical research facilities. Targeted are laboratory research core facilities, animal research facilities, and other similar shared-use research spaces. The goal of this NOFO is to strengthen research-auxiliary activities of biomedical research facilities and to enhance the efficiency of their operations. The NOFO does not support the purchase of scientific research instruments or their components, nor components of building-level infrastructure equipment that indirectly support research activities.

L’Initiative encourages the implementation of projects that involve national pandemic response programs, the research community, civil society, and the private sector. The main project initiator must be a legal entity with a board of directors/executive committee and head office registered in an eligible country or in France.

The purpose of this program is to encourage the development of researchers in child health by awarding small grants to new researchers, helping them gain a foothold in this important area. The goal is to fund applicants who will go on to be independent investigators. The Fund will make up to 32 awards total with two funding cycles (16 awards each).

The U.S. Leadership Accelerator is a tuition-free 9-month fellowship whichruns from September to May for U.S. based early career, non-clinical public health professionals. The program seeks applicants with varied perspectives, including those informed by personal experiences navigating health inequities. With virtual monthly workshops and two in-person gatherings, the program is thoughtfully designed for public health workers already working in full-time jobs, who have been in their current role for 6 or more months. Applications submitted prior to March 31st, 2025 are eligible for priority consideration.

The RSTMH Early Career Grants are aimed at individuals who have not received a research grant of £5,000 or more in their own name before, who are able to develop and deliver their first research project

E.W. "Al" Thrasher Awards focus on projects that are changing pediatric clinical care. Each award is a novel approach to problems plaguing pediatrics. The award is open to applications focusing on any disease or topic within the umbrella of pediatrics, both in and outside the United States. Ideal applications for the Thrasher Award address significant health problems, offering the potential for practical solutions to these problems. Typically, the primary outcome is a health outcome in children. Solutions should be innovative and have the potential for broad applicability with low barriers to implementation. Projects with a shorter distance to clinical applicability are given priority.​

A career development fellowship sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fogarty International Center (FIC), this program supports awarded fellows from all 10 UC campuses as well as 22 affiliated international sites across 18 countries. UCGHI manages and supports the GloCal Health Fellowship.

UC TRAC Global Fellowship Applications for the 2025-26 cohort opened in February 2025. UC TRAC’s fellowship is a one-year program. NOTE: Applicants must be involved in research affiliated with a current University of California San Francisco (UCSF) or University of California Berkeley (UCB) faculty or research project. We are unable to support subcontracts to foreign institutions or projects that will require new IRB approval.

Contact: Roger Ptak Roger.Ptak@nih.gov Objective: This new initiative aims to support investigator-led, multidisciplinary research to define how HIV-driven alterations to immunometabolism affect immune cell regulation, cell-cell interactions, response to treatment, and, ultimately, tuberculosis (TB) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) progression. Elucidating and subsequently probing such mechanisms will lead to identification of candidate biomarkers of disease progression and potential targets for immune-modulatory treatment (i.e., host-directed therapy) to decrease TB and HBV risk in people living with HIV. Description: This initiative will advance laboratory-based research to elucidate immunometabolic pathways and mechanisms that can be exploited for new therapeutic and diagnostic strategies.

Contacts: Marina Protopopova marina.protopopova@nih.gov Kristen Porter kristen.porter@nih.gov Objective: The objectives of this NOSI are to 1) support the development of innovative sustained release (SR)/long-acting (LA) products and strategies that provide a minimum of 3 months of HIV treatment or prevention and 2) develop SR/LA strategies for a minimum of once-a-month treatment of tuberculosis and hepatitis B in people living with HIV, and a once-a-month treatment of hepatitis C with the ultimate goal to develop a one-shot cure of hepatitis C. Description: This initiative is focused on the development of innovative technologies to enable intermittent dosing to treat and prevent HIV and HIV co-infections. Use of samples from clinical trials supported elsewhere and animal research including nonhuman primates may be supported. Clinical trials are not allowed. There is no set-aside funding for this NOSI.

Contact: Robert Mahon Robert.Mahon@nih.gov Objective: The scientific objectives of this new initiative are to 1) better understand the types and pathogenesis of long-term lung damage resulting from pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and the role of the host immune response, and 2) identify ways to mitigate lung damage during TB treatment through host-directed therapy. There is no set-aside funding for this NOSI.

This scheme provides funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity. Through innovative projects, they will deliver shifts in understanding related to human life, health and wellbeing. By the end of the award, they will be ready to lead their own independent research programme. The applications are opened 3 times a year

Usually application due in November; application opens in August. The Global Health Fellowship Program is a 12-month clinical research training program for post-doctorate trainees and doctoral students in the health professions, sponsored by the NIH’s Fogarty International Center (FIC) in partnership with several NIH Institutes and Centers.

Please note that the submission of projects are allowed for French Research teams. For non-French researchers, they should be presenting their research projects in collaboration with some French research team. All calls and their requirements are mentioned on the ANRS website. It is easier to get this funding for ESI who contribute to some ANRS studies in their respective countries…

(Bookmark for Feb 2025) Long-Term Research Fellowships European Respiratory Society (ERS) Long-Term Research Fellowships support researchers and clinicians in the early stages of their careers to carry out basic, translational or clinical research projects lasting between 6–12 months. Fellowship recipients conduct projects at research institutions outside of their home country, enabling fellows to access and learn research techniques that are not available at their home institute. Long-term fellowships are awarded annually based on scientific merit as well as the skills and experience that fellows can bring to the host centre.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support applications for high-priority, regionally relevant infectious diseases research by international investigators in resource-constrained countries. Applicant organizations must be headquartered in foreign (non-U.S.) resource-constrained countries (i.e. low-income economies, lower-middle-income economies, and upper-middle-income economies by World Bank Classification). Applicant organizations headquartered in low- and lower-middle income economy countries are particularly encouraged to apply. Eligibility status of applicant organizations will be determined by the World Bank Classification list at the time of application submission. We invite applications for the Pivot Fellowship program which will support researchers who have a strong track record of success and achievement in their current field, and a deep interest, curiosity and drive to make contributions to a new discipline. The fellowship will enable today’s brightest minds to apply their talent and expertise to a new field and will consist of one training year where the fellow will be embedded in a lab of a mentor to learn the new discipline and its culture. Mentorship and support are essential for learning a new discipline and culture. In addition to the qualifications and potential of the applicant, the suitability of the mentor and the environment for mentorship will be strongly considered in the application process.
